Cookie love!

I had chocolate cream cookies today with Larry and when I opened this one up to eat the middle ('cause that's how you eat an Oreo and Oreo wannabes, oh yes, it is), the cream pulled away in the shape of a heart!

It reminded me of another time we found love in our visitation room snacks.  :)

Fairy Tale Friday

Crazy kids.  Makin' me cry and stuff.
Unless you slept all day or were hiding under a rock all day, you probably heard about a little something going on in London.

Prince William married his Kate.

It was a beautiful ceremony, the bride was stunning and the groom was so handsome, he made me cry.  Lookin' just like his mama!!!

I remember waking up really, really early that summer morning and watching his parents marry.  I was 14 and so absolutely awestruck by the whole thing.  Mama got up with me and we watched it together.  I couldn't stop thinking this morning as Prince William married that his mama should be there with him.

I'm sure she was.

The kiss!
And the pout!  Hilarious!!
Somebody's about ready for a nap.  Ha!

In honor of William and Kate's big day, Michelle made us blueberry scones for breakfast at the office!  They were amazing!! She brought along some of her grandma's homemade blueberry and rhubarb preserves.

We felt a little less common with them on the table.  :)

Fill in the blank Friday!

I love to read other people's blogs!  That's how I found my friend, Brandy, and how my friend, Kim, found me!

Have a Coke and a smile.

It's how you play the game!

Don't tell me what to do!

Well, would you look what the cat dragged in!

There's nothing like the lullaby of spring peepers.  Ribbit.  :)

As for this weekend, tonight I'm going to soak in a hot bath, rest my strained tendon (OW!) and watch the royal wedding (well, as much of it as I can!  I recorded footage from 4:00 AM until noon today!), tomorrow and Sunday, I'm going to spend some goooooood quality time with my adorable husband and do just as little as I can possibly get away with.

Accidental onion

Here's a Vidalia onion that grew in my compost bin!  I did absolutely nothing to help it grow.

I just threw an onion core in there months ago and it just laid out there in the ice and the rain and the snow and the wind and the hail and still, it grew. Now there's a plant with three (now) two little onions!

I have plans for this little onion. He's going in a roast with potatoes. Yum!!

Tie-dyed Easter eggs!

Easter eve

This is what I made to take to our family Easter dinner tomorrow!  Broccoli slaw and a strawberry poppy seed salad.  They are both most yum.  I had to make sure, right??

This is everything (almost!) that I used!

First up, broccoli slaw.  (Thanks for the recipe, Kim!)
It's one pack of broccoli slaw (you can find it in the produce section),
two packs of chicken ramen noodles all broken up and a pack of Craisins.

For the dressing, whisk together 1/4 cup extra light olive oil,
1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
and the seasoning packets from the ramen noodles.

Toss and top with slivered almonds and sunflower seeds.
I'm saving those for last minute right before we eat tomorrow.

For the strawberry salad dressing (Ami suggested this one!), mix in a blender 1/4 cup fresh strawberries, 1 clove of garlic, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/3 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/4 tablespoon salt.

Whirr, whirr, whirr!

I used baby spinach and a spring mix, chopped a bunch of strawberries,
added a cup of blueberries, 2 tablespoons poppy seeds, some bacon bits
and feta cheese. I have some sweet and salty pecans to go on top.
For you know, the last minute.  :)

It's just as delicious as it looks!!
That strawberry dressing is amazing!!

Now I'm off to dye eggs!
What are you making for Easter??

A happy earth and a really good Friday

I can't remember a time in my life when Good Friday and Earth Day fell on the same day.

I can't remember an Easter this late in the year!

But today is both. We remember one and we celebrate the other.

I imagine that Jesus thinks it's really cool for us to celebrate and protect the EARTH God gave us on the same day that we are remembering and adoring the SON God gave us.  Think about that a minute.  He gave us both, one for us to save and one to save us.

Let us love the earth.
Let us love one another.
As Jesus does.

Fill in the blank Friday!

Pardon me is a very polite way of saying, "Get out of my way!"

Buying something you don't need just because it's on sale is NOT a good deal.

I am surprised to find that I really like building electrical circuits!

Watching movies on Lifetime is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.

Hi, my name is Ginger and I'm not nearly as naive as most people think.

I love thunderstorms on hot summer afternoons.

As for this weekend, I plan to clean house and do laundry tonight, I might go check out the new Madea movie tomorrow, dye some eggs and make stuff for Easter dinner and Sunday, worship my risen Savior all day long (hopefully beginning with the sunrise service if I can get my butt up in time) and spend the day with my family!

Really. It's that simple.

Uncle J. B.

When my Great Uncle J. B. died several years ago, Mama dug up some of his beloved amaryllis flowers and brought them home with her so a part of him would live on.  She's had such gorgeous blooms over the years and we always call the flowers "Uncle J. B."  She gave me two of them and I planted one in my front yard and it did nothing.  For three years.  I put another one in my backyard two years ago and it didn't even come up this year.  Earlier this spring, I noticed how huge the one in the front yard was getting.  Strong and sturdy so I had hope!!  It DID start budding and I held my breath.  I was so excited!! I posted a picture of it yesterday with its blooms still closed up tight.

This is what it looks like today!!

Hey, Uncle J. B.!!  It's so nice to see you!!!

This one already has!

Happily ever after

I went with the girls from work to Dr. Patrenos' wedding reception this afternoon. Everything was so breathtaking, I don't even know where to start! The wedding and reception took place in their home, an 1820's beauty nestled in the middle of downtown Milledgeville.  The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and now, hours afterwards, I can still smell those roses.  The food was amazing, roast beef, sliced turkey breast, pork medallions, shrimp cocktail, asparagus spears, crab dip, breads, cheeses, fruit, bread pudding, petit fours and the most beautiful wedding cake that I didn't get a picture of before it was demolished.  It was layers of pound cake, carrot cake and red velvet cake all frosted in sweet, fluffy white frosting.  Everything was incredible and I'm so happy that I got to be a part of it!  Here are a few pictures from the day!!

Beautiful arrangements of hydrangea and yellow roses filled the house!

 I just loved the staircase!

But forget the flowers and the cake.  Today it was all about the SHOES!

This girl can flat wear a pair of electric blue heels, can't she?

The absolutely stunning bride and her groom.

The fruit centerpiece that was just too pretty to eat!
Almost.  There were chocolate-covered strawberries on there.  :)

 Our princess!

Making sure we didn't leave without those yummy pecan praline favors!

Be happy, Dr. P.
We love you!!

Fill in the blank Friday!

I saw this on another blog and thought it would be fun to do!!  Maybe we'll do it every Friday...

For me, it was those gorgeous blue eyes.

They use waaaaaaay too much packaging at my local supermarket.

Behind the sound of the wind in the trees, I heard that dog still barking.

To walk down Haight-Ashbury is something I've always wanted to do.

When it was over, I was SO happy!!

I've been by myself but I never felt alone.

This weekend I'm looking forward to cleaning house, three chapters of Linear and maybe a movie tonight, Dr. Patrenos' wedding reception tomorrow afternoon and being with my sweet husband on Sunday.

Now YOU fill in the blanks!

Peace (unless you're a wart)

Okay, so I picked up a frog one day about a year ago, he peed on me and ever since, I've had these two little bitty warts on my fingers.

Don't let that sweet face fool you.
He's vicious.
And incontinent.

I've cut 'em off, dug 'em out and used Compound W (which is a complete waste of time and money, or at least it was for me.  It dried up in the bottle before I could use it all!) and yet they're still there.  Somebody told me to try duct tape.  I figured it was worth a shot so I set out Friday to get some.  I went to Walgreens (my favorite neighborhood pharmacy! Their photo department ROCKS!!) and found some TIE-DYED duct tape!! You know this hippie chick was tickled to find some tie-dyed duct tape!! So I'm trying it.  I read some stuff online about it and it's supposed to really work.  I hope so!!

See where the warts are??
When I show you them, I'm flashing the peace sign!
With tie-dyed duct tape!!

I was checking a family out at work today and the daddy said, "Oh my God, what happened to your fingers??"  He just glanced at them, saw the purple and thought I'd crushed them in a car door or something.  I just gave him my biggest smile, flashed him the peace sign and said, "TIE-DYED duct tape!!"  And I explained about that blankety-blank frog.

I know all four of y'all are gonna read my blog daily to check the wart progress and I aim to please my fans.  I'll keep you posted!

***Y'all know there really was no frog, right??  That's just what I've always heard all my life.  Frogs peeing on you give you warts.  I have viral infection issues and that's where they came from.  I've had Bell's Palsy and now trigeminal neuralgia (neuritis of my fifth cranial nerve, since freakin' SEPTEMBER!).  This girl's gone viral!!  Ha!!  I'm trying diet (lots of spinach!) and vitamins trying to boost my immune system so I can get well.  My face is still completely numb on the right side and I have nerve twitching around my mouth just about every 15 seconds, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Physically, I look fine, though.  You can't see a thing.  It's a silent, aggravating, searing hot burning pain in the butt. Only it's not in my butt, more like my scalp and cheek.  Waaah.***

A Butt Paste bobblehead??

Dr. Patrenos bought us this cute little Boudreaux's Butt Paste bobblehead while she was antiquing this weekend!! We love it!  It's perfect for a baby doctor's office, don't you think??

And here's his name.  Booty.
Hilarious.

Love thy neighbor...

...even when he parks a fifth wheel big as the MOON this close to your house.

 Really??

I live in a neighborhood of condo duplexes, villas is what it says on the deed.  I love this neighborhood.  It's normally really quiet and peaceful, even though the hub of Warner Robins is directly behind us.  Last weekend, somebody moved into the condo next to me.  The same one that was painted that Gawd-awful hooker red a year and a half ago.  They moved in, parked this monstrosity in the driveway and left.  Just left. Seriously??

OH!!  And I found a pair of hot pink panties in my front yard on Wednesday.  Never a dull moment.

But!!  On a HAPPY note!!  Look at my chives and basil!!
They gettin' so big.  :)

***Update***  The City of Warner Robins sucks.  There is NOTHING I can do about the RV/fifth wheel/MOON unless it blocks traffic or somebody is living in it.  I'm moving to the country.
