Monkey Farts??

You know those ads that pop up in your social media feeds?  Well, this one popped up in my Instagram feed.

They had me at whipped soap.  I’m such a sucker for soaps and shampoos, really any kind of beauty stuff.  I get an Ipsy bag and a Birchbox every month.  I get so excited when I see them in the mailbox!

This whipped soap, by Glory Cloud USA and called Monkey Farts, grabbed my attention, not just because I’m a sucker for soap but because it’s whipped!  And Monkey Farts??!  I had to try it.

So I ordered it and it came in a few days.  The jar was smaller than I expected (4 oz) but it was slap full of soap! It says facial soap on the label but you can use it for anything.  You only need a little bit and it lathers and lathers!!  And the scent is just heavenly!!  Exactly what you would expect a monkey fart to smell like...ripe bananas, juicy pineapple, sweet apples and creamy vanilla. Okay, well, in this alternate soap beauty world maybe.  Ha!

I’ve used it for four days, just on my face, and I absolutely love it.  It leaves my face so soft and clean and smelling fruity!

The Easter Bunny still comes to see me...

The Easter Bunny came to see all of us!  Larry and I got baskets of candy and goodies and I got a giant Easter Minnie Mouse and Mickey and Minnie POPs!

Banjo and Tabbie Hoffman got a new water fountain to share (Tabbie drinks out of Banjo's water bowl anyway AND eats his food...oy), Banjo got some new chew bones and Tabbie got some silver vine sticks.  They both got new toys, too.  Yay for the Easter Bunny!!

Late summer fun!

After weeks of ones we wanted being out of stock and having to wait, wait, wait, we finally got our summer toys this week!  We set them up today and had so much fun!!

This super cute octopus play center was supposed to be for my birthday but it was out of stock.  As soon as walmart.com got it in, I ordered it.  And now, of course, it's ten bucks.  Ha!  And the pool was just as difficult.  The one we wanted wouldn't be here until September so we got this one instead.  It's plenty big for us to cool off in and it's seven feet wide so Larry can lay down in this one!

A couple of neighborhood kids (us!) had a blast today!

Here's Larry blowing up the octopus.  An electric air pump is a MUST!  Best $20 we ever spent!

Filling the pool!

Here he is, cute as can be!

We sure cooled off quick!  Now it's time for a nap!  :)

Pokemon Crazy!

Hello, my name is Ginger and I am addicted to Pokemon Go (y'all all say "Hi, Ginger").  I blame it all on my coworkers, Dusty Gautney and Captain Cynthia Lete.  I didn't even know a thing about it until they told me the game was debuting on July 6th.  So it's only been 25 days and I'm halfway through Level 19 and have aspirations to hit Level 20 today.  I have 60 Pokemon in my Pokedex and my strongest and best one is a Magmar that I hatched and he's at 1286 CP!

Larry treated me to a ton of PokeCoins yesterday (OMG!!) and we went to Smiley's and I was able to find some vintage Pokemon toys.  Eevie (he's my favorite) and his evolutions.  I was tickled pink!

I found a stuffed Eevie on eBay and a Pikachu on Amazon.  They're both here now, too.

Pikachu is riding "Teen Wolf" style on top of the hippie van cookie jar.  Ha!

It's a lot of fun and I'm excited to see how the game evolves over time.  Are you playing??

Hattie

Larry brought home a pitiful, filthy little homemade Cabbage Patch doll to me today that he found while cleaning out a storage area at work.  He was told he could have anything in there that he wanted (that's where the insulators came from).  I loved her instantly, named her Hattie and immediately set about giving her a bath (in a king-size pillowcase tied in a knot and thrown in the washing machine on the gentle cycle) and getting her fixed up.

She had a lot of smoke damage, soot and dirt on her face from the fire that almost destroyed the building but all that washed away!  I threw away the dress she was wearing, the ribbons in her hair and the Pamper on her butt and made her our baby with a tie-dyed t-shirt and cloth diaper.  :)

Welcome to the family, Hattie!  We're so happy you're here!

Eggstra Special Good Friday!

I took the day off and slept in while my sweet husband boiled eggs for us to dye with our Elizabeth and Emma tomorrow.  He created this little Good Friday egg cartoon and I just had to share it!!  He is so creative and smart and pretty much the coolest person I've ever known.  From the moment we met, I knew.  I knew he was the one for me.  That day and every day we had to live apart up to this amazing, beautiful life we have now.  We are truly blessed.  Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!!

Of course the little brown egg between us is Banjo.  :)

Happy Good Friday, y'all!!  It was the saddest day in earth's history but it led to the best thing that ever happened to us.  They put Him in that grave but He didn't stay there!

My Valentine tea cart

Here's my tea cart so far...still got 9 days to go!  :)  Ami gave me some pretty Valentine paper and doilies to add and I found a few Valentines in my baby book that Mama saved for me when I was really little (free vintage Valentines!).  I am really SO happy that she saved all that stuff for me. Valentines, birthday cards, napkins and candles, Christmas gift tags and memories upon memories of my birth and first seven years. That book is priceless to me.  I don't know if you mamas out there are doing baby books for your babies but you really should.  You know, in case they want to do a vintage holiday tea cart one day.  Or if they're curious to see every single gift given to them and comment made by a beloved uncle who just went to heaven.  That stuff means SO much to me.  Anyway, here it is!

Larry made me the little LOVE board.  With 47 dots around the letters ('cause that's how old I am -- until June!).

So what if I'm crazy?  I was born this way -- what's your excuse?  :)  I may have only been two years old when I got this Valentine but Mama and Daddy were spot on.  Ha!

Poppie Fresh

I let another woman into my kitchen today.  Another short little fat woman who loves biscuits as much as I do.

Poppie Fresh!  AKA Mrs. Poppin Fresh AKA The Pillsbury Doughgirl.

Ain't she so cute??

I had an original 1971 Mr. Poppin' Fresh when I was a little girl but he got vandalized by one of my uncles.  Mama replaced him years later.  The doughboy, not my uncle.  Larry and I were at Wilson's Bakery Saturday after we'd spent hours out yard and estate saleing.  Several hours spent going through other folks' stuff is sufficient grounds for fingernut cookies.  I'm just sayin'.  Wilson's is decorated in Pillsbury Doughboys.  Every. Where.  In every variety.  I told Larry while we were in line waiting to get our cookies that we should get our Poppin' Fresh a wife so he wouldn't be lonely anymore standing on our kitchen sink.

I found her on eBay for $4 and I ordered her Sunday.  She arrived today.  From clean out in California!

Poppin' Fresh was SO happy to see her!  Look at that big smile!

He's trying to hold her hand already.

That's Life!

Larry and I picked up a vintage 1960 Life game today for $2 when we were out and about at estate sales this morning and we came home and played it over a bowl of pistachios.

I beat his butt all FIVE times!  And he had like six kids in his car!  :)

Pool time!

I finally got Banjo in his little pool this afternoon while Larry grilled us some burgers.  It was kinda like the ocean, once he got in there, he was okay with it.  Maybe next summer, he'll like it more.  I liked it!

 Me playin' my Banjo.  :)

I caught Larry shakin' his booty

Banjo patiently waiting for a bite

 Yummy cheeseburgers for supper!

Ahhhhh!!  Summertime!  In a doggy pool. :)

A Tabbie Hoffman Easter!

Tab wanted y'all to see his eggs that he decorated tonight!  It's his first Easter and he was a little nervous but I think he did a great job!!

That blue one in the middle with the smudge was his daddy's idea.  Larry suggested that I put a little butter on Tabbie's paw and then press his paw onto the egg before I dunked it.  It worked!  Kitty paw print!

Eagle bites

That Eagle did not want me messin' with him today.  He didn't want me taking out his old wiring, his old clamps and his old plugs.

I tried to explain to him that it was for his own good and that he would be able to fly so much faster with new wiring.

He was having none of that right there.

He screeeeeeched and he hissed and he even cussed me once.

And he bit me.  And he scratched me with his claws.

But we shall be BFFs in no time, I just know it!  :)

Stand up for your right to be a tree!

I opened the patio door blind this morning and saw this.  A huge limb that has fallen and STOOD UP in the process.  That is SO funny!  You don't see that every day.  A limb standing up for his right to be a tree.  Even our trees have hippie hearts.  :)

Friday night confessions

I had a pretty amazing week, long, exhausting but amazing all the same.  Yesterday afternoon, I got to watch the Blue Angels practice for this weekend's air show and that was pretty dang awesome.  They looked like they didn't need no practice to me!

Some confessions for the week:

The biscuits on the morning break truck at work are of the debil.  I have to stop eating them.  Bacon, sausage, egg, cheese, butter and jelly.  The DEBIL.

I may or may not have spent $61 at Target today on absolutely nothing.  It feels good to be in the milk and honey again.  :)

Against my better judgement, I might have to watch "Celebrity Apprentice" Sunday night just to hear Clay Aiken say, "I'm a grown ass man."  Bwah!

For the first time in a lonnnnng time, my house did not get cleaned this week.  And the walls are still up and the roof's still on.  Imagine that.

The pantry, on the other hand, did indeed get a cleaning.  I was looking for chocolate.  And there was none.  :(

Happy Weekend!

Happy Birthday, Oreo cookie!

A hundred years ago today, the first little Oreo cookie rolled off the line at Chelsea Market Bakery in Manhattan, New York and a legend was born!  Who doesn't like Oreo cookies??  There are lots of different versions of them today like the Double Stuf, Golden (a vanilla cookie with chocolate cream on the inside!), Peanut Butter, Cool Mint and even a Reduced Fat version.

When I was younger, about 25 or so, I was working in Americus and I entered a contest at Piggly Wiggly to win a year's supply of Oreo cookies.  I'd never won anything in my life and sure didn't think I'd win then.  But I DID!!  I won a YEAR'S SUPPLY OF OREO COOKIES.  And every week for a year, I walked down to Piggly Wiggly from my office in the Perlis Plaza and picked up my pack of Oreos.  It got to the point that I was SO SICK of Oreos, my family was SO SICK of Oreos, so I started just giving them away to customers, people on the street, dogs, whoever would take them.

I can't even remember the last time I had an Oreo.  I know I had an Oreo Blizzard at Dairy Queen a couple of summers ago but an actual cookie??  I can't remember.

I do remember how I eat them, though.  I twist and separate and eat the center first.  Just like nearly 50% of women do.  Men usually eat the thing whole in one or two bites.  Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen a man twist and separate an Oreo.  Funny.  Larry eats 'em in one bite.

I think it's pretty amazing that a cookie has survived a hundred years.  Nothing lasts a hundred years in this country.  We are bombarded by new stuff daily and it's really hard to keep up.  So for this little cookie to stand the test of time really means something.  It's a classic.

Spidey's fair adventures

Here we are right after I won him.
Don't we look so happy??

Here he is checking out my camera.

Here we are listening to a very good country band play.  Spidey said he never really liked country music.  That's when I found out he has a squeaker in his head.  I squeezed his head real hard.

Here he is protecting me 'cause
I'm windblown and tired of pictures.

Here we are learning how to stand up.

Here he is all laid out in the grass.
We still have to work on that standing thing.

 Maybe shoes will help.

Here he is posing with the paddle boats behind him.  He said he wanted to ride one but I told him somebody would just try to use him for a float.

Here he is sharing that beautiful sunset with us.

Almost time to go home!
It was a great day!!

Spidey rested most of the day today.  He had a busy day yesterday, what with getting a new home and family and all.

Wonder what he'll be up to tomorrow??
