Peace Frog take three

I replaced the Peace Frog sticker on the back glass of my car today.  Again.  For the second time in as many years.  The ice that we got last month destroyed Peace Frog #2 and the snow we got in February 2010 laid waste to King Peace Frog The First.

I think next time we have ice/snow or any combo of either, I'll try to protect it with plastic, a blanket, an electric heater, a high power silicon transistor, something.

I love the Peace Frogs.  I love having one on my car.  They have such sweet personality and I think they reflect mine as well.  With this cRaZy weather we keep having, it's a good thing I can get 'em for $3 on eBay any time I need to.

Long live King Peace Frog The Third!

My birthday boy

Today is Larry's birthday!!

Happy Birthday, baby!!  Words really can't begin to express what you and your love mean to me.  It's been nearly 23 years since we started this life together and I am SO happy that YOU have been and still are my partner through it all, the good and the bad, the bliss and the heartache.

You are an amazing husband and friend, father and Paw Paw.  I cannot imagine my life without you.  Wouldn't even try.

I love you the best.
Better than all the rest.

Brusha, brusha, brusha

I found these at Kroger!

Recyclable toothbrushes!!

They're made from recycled yogurt cups, are BPA free and come in a Business Reply Mail pack so after three months of use, you can send them back and they'll be recycled AGAIN to make plastic lumber for picnic tables and park benches.  Nothing wasted, everything gained.  I love that!!

Here's the link.  Check 'em out!!  Mine were on sale for $2.50 but I think they're normally around $3 each.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

It's 76 degrees here this afternoon!!
Woo hoooo!!!

I got out and took a long walk around my neighborhood.

My neighborhood has a walking track and folks
from all over Warner Robins come here to walk every day!

This is what the sky looks like!!

This is what green grass looks like!!
Dogs like to walk here, too.  :)

There's also a wooded hiking trail you can walk and explore!

And this is what a new $132 tire looks like!!

Okay, so Tuesday before class, I was driving through the parking lot between Walgreens and Food Lion to get home and I heard something that made me think my tire was flat.  I stopped, got out, looked, pressed on all four of them and everything and they all seemed to be fine.  I went to class and afterwards, when I got back in the car, my tire pressure light was on.  Uh oh.  I checked again and still had tight tires so I didn't think much of it.  That tire pressure light has been on a lot with the drastic change in temperatures we've had lately (thanks, global warming!!).  Wednesday morning, still lookin' good so I went to work.  I was leaving for lunch Wednesday and I noticed my back passenger tire was low.  I pressed on it a-gain (read that like my buddy Forrest Gump says it!) and it still felt tight so I thought I could make it the three and a half miles to Houston Lake to Express to get it plugged.  Wrong!!  As soon as I got onto Houston Lake, I heard a POW! and the tire started making this horrible flapping noise.  She was a goner.  I pulled into Express with my broke little wing and had to replace the tire.  I had run over a nail.  It could have been plugged Tuesday.  For twenty bucks. Yeah.

Green circuitry earrings!

I want some of these!!  :)

From a recycled circuit board, these one-inch long earrings are the perfect length for long or short hair. Be geek proud while you strut your eco-friendly stuff!

A dozen

Twelve years ago, on a cold, windy Saturday afternoon, I married the love of my life, my best friend, my hero.

Today we celebrate our first dozen years.  A dozen years seems like a long time by today's standards and I guess it is but when you think of my parents, who've been married going on their FOURTH dozen, and Larry's parents, who were married nearly 56 years when death parted them, it's just that.  Our first dozen.  We've been together for nearly 23 years and in my heart, I became Larry's wife then, the day we met in 1988.  We just waited a long time to make it legal!

Larry has always tried to get whatever traditional gift you're supposed to get for whatever anniversary you're having.  Like for our leather anniversary, he got me a new wallet.  For steel, he got me a beautiful set of stainless steel bowls.  For aluminum, he made me a gorgeous picture on a piece of foil.  This year, our anniversary is the linen anniversary and he made me a dozen plus two paper roses, one for the two of us and one for each year we've been married, inside a tube and the linen is a piece of his sheet that he printed this sweet poem on.

Here's a picture!

Here's the poem!

Rick & Alice's Li'l Girl

Far far down in the deep deep south
Where the Oconee has its mouth
Are tall pine trees and red dirt roads
White-tail deer and green croaking toads

Summer's hot hot sun and sweet sweet tea
Juicy peaches and the dogwood tree
Ice cold beer and golden ears of corn
Here's where my Cherokee Rose was born

Sexy dimpled cheeks and ice cream eyes
Character as strong as railroad ties
Brightly painted toes and tombstone teeth
Smooth, lithe legs poking out underneath

Rodeo clown's heart, a honeymooner's smile
Purrs like a panther in a one-minute mile
Loyal like the sun that never fails to rise
So full of life, she can open dead men's eyes

A Pecan Sandie hid in the cookie jar
The pickup truck in the heart of every car
Hot habaneros in a marshmallow pie
And the hottest lips on the coldest sunrise

The fire sprinkler at a funeral pyre
She's the fire-warmed feet in the Hobbit's shire
Who gives forgiveness quick and kisses long
Turns tears to crystal and heartache to song

The widowed heart with dogtags that won't shine
The purest diamond in the deepest mine
She's Frodo's Sam who would not keep the ring
Who was a queen before she knew the King

The mastermind in this heart-stealing heist
Dunked and saved by the love of Jesus Christ
A touchdown pass when it's 4th down and goal
A chaingang tattoo of love on her soul

The grenade with shrapnel of piercing love
The root that grows deep and blossoms above
The golden prize in the Hall Easter Egg Hunt
The game-winning run from the sacrifice bunt

Kisses as sweet as boardwalk taffy
Can melt ice and turn the sane daffy
The pretty maiden who loved this dragon
Carries more love than a covered wagon

This is Rick and Alice's oldest child
Sweetest creation of all that grows wild
All the prayers I've ever prayed in my life
All came true when Ginger became my wife

He's a keeper!!  :)

Big thanks to Ami for all she does to help
Larry do things for me and get things to me.
She had this gift wrapped so pretty for me today,
along with a pot of chili and this amazing anniversary dessert!

I enjoyed my day celebrating a dozen years as Mrs. Schneider.  The next dozen are going to be incredible!

Off with her head!

So, I was in Target today after work picking up a prescription and I had a few minutes to kill so I strolled around the store a bit and ended up in the toy department, where I end up so often when I'm at Target, the toy department and cleaning supplies.  When I was a little girl, I loved my baby dolls as you all know but I was a straight Barbie doll fool, too.  My favorite, favorite, favorite Barbie was my beautiful Malibu Barbie, with her blue one-piece bathing suit and her long, luxurious blonde hair.  I loveded her so much.  Sigh.  So, anyway, I was in the toy department today when I happened upon the most horrible thing you could ever imagine, so horrible that I am afraid to go to sleep tonight, afraid of the nightmares that I'm sure will come.

Swappin' Styles Barbie
is what Mattel wants you to believe it is

I'm seriously disturbed by this doll.  The box says you can change Barbie's look by just swapping the heads around.  Um, where I come from, down 'round Oglethorpe Montezuma, when you wanted your Barbie's look to change, you changed her CLOTHES.  Worked fine for me.  I had all kinds of looks goin' on.  It never even occured to me to take Malibu Barbie's HEAD OFF and put it on Marie Osmond's body to give her a new LOOK. Heck, I had a hard enough time keeping my Barbies' heads on to start with.  I would never have taken one off on purpose!

Epic FAIL, Mattel.

Meet Pinky Smiley, my new coworker!

I am so in love with this little thing!  :)

We have little toys and prizes for our kids at the office
when their visit is over and I adopted Pinky Smiley
to sit with me on my desk!

I just LOVE her little feet!

And, yes, I realize I'm easily entertained.
You are, too, 'cause you just read this!  Ha!!

Happy Birthday, Ami!

Today is my baby sister's birthday!

I found this quote online that I just loved and I had to use it for her birthday blog.  It goes...

Of two sisters, one is always the watcher, one the dancer.
(Louise Gluck)

How true this is for Ami and me!  She was born four months before I turned ten years old so I was kinda her second mama.  I helped feed her and change her and rock her and take care of her.  I was the watcher and she was the dancer.  I tried to keep her safe and out of danger while she grew.  I taught her things and tried to shield her from some of the pain of growing up.

Somewhere along the way, though, after we became adults, our roles reversed.

Ami is now the watcher and I'm the dancer.  She tries to keep me safe and she protects me from myself sometimes.  I honestly cannot imagine my life without my sissy.  It's absolutely inconceivable to me.

So, today, on her birthday, I just want to tell her how much I love her and how blessed, honored and happy I am to be her sister.

Happy Birthday, sweet girl!!  Thanks for being my watcher.
