Sunday morning

After I made my first ever frittata for Larry for breakfast this morning and quickly decided that I need some sort of frittata pan (like this one!) so that his future frittatas don't look like scrambled eggs trying to be omelets, I got ready for church and tended my growing family of flower babies.  I just love spring!  I love growing flowers and this year, I'm so excited about our vegetables and herbs.  I never had much luck at the condo growing things so I have really high hopes of having a bountiful harvest all summer!

The cucumbers are the biggest in the pot!  We haven't had to water a single thing in days.  Lots and lots of rain.  April showers, right??  We should have some beauties come May!!

Here I am pruning my petunias.  :)

They are really growing!  And I'm still loving that pink flower pot!

I took this picture of Larry and Banjo with Tabbie Hoffman totally photobombing at the front door!  Ha!  I love all three of my boys!  And isn't Larry SO handsome??  Oh my!!

I am absolutely bringin' booty back in my tie-dyed skirt but y'all ain't heard that from me.  ;)

We got a new living room rug!  I just love it.

Larry wrote this message for me when he started pressure washing the house.  It's been raining so much he hasn't been able to finish but if we get a sunny day this coming week, he will and I thought I'd better get a picture of it before it's gone.

Sweetness!

Patio pretties

(I took these pictures and posted this blog with my new iPhone just to see if it would work.  Guess it did!)

Here are a couple of flower pots I found when Larry and I went yard saling last weekend.  I love the bunny one!  I put a peppermint verbena in one and a succulent in the other.

We got a beautiful yellow tiger lily and a mater plant for the patio, too!  We're ready for summer!  Good thing, too, 'cause we've got a heat wave going!

What we've been up to

We have been so busy here at the Schneider Condostead!  We are looking forward to May, when we're going to slow waaaaay down and smell the roses (or the daisies or the hibiscuses!).

Larry restored my old baby chest of drawers.  My daddy cut it down from a chest that my grandparents had when he and Mama were expecting me, 47 years ago.  I used it right on up until about five years ago, when the drawers were just falling apart and I had to store it for Larry to fix.  I always knew he would be here to fix it!  And so he did.

Here's a before, all sanded down and ready to paint.  I wanted it painted exactly how my daddy painted it, white and trimmed in blue.

And here's the after!  And it's back in use, in our bedroom.

We went to the Cherry Blossom Festival with Ami and Brian a couple of Sundays ago and had so much fun!  Although we have probably had our first and last experience with a food truck.  :)

A photographer from The Macon Telegraph was there and he asked us if he could take our picture!  We said yes, thinking there was no way we'd ever make the paper.  But we did!  This was in last Monday's Telegraph.

I joked on Facebook that OF COURSE he'd have to use the one he took of me trying to eat my taco in one bite rather than one where I was eating a lime fry.  Ugh.  But still, we were excited to be in the newspaper!

That crowd?  Is why we've probably done our first and last food truck.  And two quesadillas, two tacos and two canned drinks for $29 is another reason.

We bought this beautiful handpainted gourd at the Cherry Blossom Festival and Larry hung it in a backyard tree.  I just love it and can't wait for a birdy to move in!

We went bowling at the base's bowling alley, too, and Larry totally mopped the floor up with me.  We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and fed our Family Promise families at church last night and he played basketball, volleyball, foosball and shot pool with the kids.  There is NO game Larry cannot play and he's so good at everything!

Larry was on spring break from school last week and he laid a walkway for us from the patio out to the shop...

Annnnnd you see all those little things on the ground?

 Grass seed! :)

We bought some flowers at Lowe's and I planted purple petunias in a front yard bed and was SO happy to see that my Uncle J.B. (amaryllis) has a little bud!  It didn't bloom at all last year.  I have a pink impatien, orange Gerbera daisies and a gorgeous hibiscus to repot and put out on the patio and after Easter, we're going back for a big flower, veggie and herb trip to Lowe's.  :)  I've put a bloom booster around everything so we should have a beautiful yard this year!

We went up to Forsyth to Cash Liquidations and bought a beautiful lamp and sofa table.  We'd been trying to thrift a sofa table and hadn't been able to find one we liked and we even looked at some brand new ones, although I really didn't want a brand new one.  I wanted one that had been "loved" a little bit.  We rode up to Forsyth one afternoon and found one and a cool boho lamp, too!
This past weekend, we went back to the beach and had a wonderful time!  Saturday was gorgeous, warm, sunny, the water didn't turn our feet blue this time and we actually got to get out in the ocean and enjoy it.  I think Larry enjoyed it a little more than I did.  :)

Our friend, Lissa, told me on Facebook that we were eating life by the second, enjoying every bite.  That's a good way to put it!  We waited a very long time for this life and we are certainly not wasting a minute of it!!

A few things that made my weekend awesome!

I love four-day weekends!

Friday morning, we celebrated Tabbie Hoffman's first birthday!  Here he is checking out his cancake AKA a can of Meow Mix chicken Pate Topper.  Ha!  He got a cute little summertime toy with a dangly seahorse and starfish and he enjoyed his mama singing "Happy Birthday" to him.  I think.  ;)

Friday afternoon, I went out to the college and picked up my top secret, sealed transcript to turn in to the base next week so they can start my conversion process back to full time status (there go my Fridays!  At least until the furloughs start!) and promote me to a WG-08.  Two promotions and two big raises in less than 16 months.  A girl could get used to movin' on up like that!

I finished up my necessary training hours on the fuel pit Thursday night.  A gorgeous, breezy, quiet, star-filled night to work on the pit.  I sat in the cockpit and monitored the fuel levels while the guys down below fueled and defueled the plane.  F-15s have a warning voice the guys call "Bitchin' Betty".  I think I would have called her "Freakin' Freida" because I got to hear her scream in my headset, "Warning! Fuel Low!" half a dozen times and it sounded like she was freaking the hell right on out.  Calm down, Betty.  Dang.  Now, is that the kind of voice we want a pilot in distress to hear??  I think not.  They should let me do it.  I would say it all slow and calm, with my charming Southern drawl, "Now, honey, your fuel's gettin' a little low.  You might want to get you some more.  I think there might be some in the wings." or something like that.  :)

Here's Betty if you want to hear her freakin'.  Bless her heart.

After I left the college with my top secret, sealed transcript (no joke!), I went over to the theater and met with a Facebook friend of mine for the very first time!  I'd been talking to Belinda on FB for years.  We live in the same town, for goodness sake!  So we arranged to go see the third and final installment of The Hangover and it was hilarious!  I love those movies.  It was a little more violent than the other two but funny all the same.  My favorite line was that crazy Chow saying, "We're gonna die...finally!"

Saturday, I trimmed the shrub bushes in front of the house.  Y'all.  They had NEVER been trimmed.  Not in the ten years I've lived here.  I joked on Facebook that I had no idea there were even seven of them there.  I thought there was just the one big one.  They are cut completely away from the house now.  I can easily get to the water faucet and the dryer vent and I can clean the siding when it needs it.  Not to mention the bug treatment will be so much more successful now.  :)  I planted a purple Mexican petunia in that tiny flower bed and as soon as Uncle JB and the irises come up and bloom and I plant a few more hostas and some geraniums, it's really going to be pretty right there.

I got these two beauties for the patio.  A pink impatien and her sister, an orange sunpatien.

This pretty begonia hangs in the backyard.

Neither the shrubs or the flowers were on my Ultimate Homecoming list but since y'all brought it up, the list is now down to THREE.  Steam clean the carpets, buy new bed stuffs and get his recliner.  That is IT.  I am so proud!!!  I'm going to do the carpets myself in the fall so between now and then, I'm sure I'll be adding to the list.  :)

I won two beautiful sets of vintage pillowcases on eBay this weekend, too!  I am all into vintage mismatched sheets and pillowcases lately.  These are in blue, pink and yellow flower prints and were made in the 60's.  Squeeeee!!

I also ordered a bunch of books this weekend to kick off my summer reading.  I like to read Southern, light and funny in the summer and one of the books I ordered is called Sue Ellen's Girl Ain't Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy.  Chapter One is "She Got Those Heavy Legs From Her Mama's Side". Bwahaha!

I hope you're all having a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  And take a minute to remember why we're having this weekend in the first place.

Who Wants To See Somethin' Pretty?

Thanks, Mama, for giving it to me!!

The Best Things In Life Are Chocolate

Just wanted to share my chocolate mint coleus.  It was just a spindly little thing when I bought it in March.  It was on a table at Lowe's and they'd given it up for dead.  I brought it home and loved it and petted it and called it George and look how pretty it is now!!

I'm gonna put it in a bigger pot this weekend.

I'm so proud of it!!  :)
