Fill in the blank Friday!

I love the beach because it is where I'm most peaceful.  I love the sounds of the surf, the smell of the salty water and feeling the sand between my toes.  I love looking for seashells, building sand turtles and writing and drawing in the sand.  I am always such in awe of the ocean.  It is God's greatest creation as far as I'm concerned.

A time that Mama knew best was pretty much always.  If I was to go back and tell my 15-year-old silly self this, I would NEVER believe it, but my mama is the smartest woman alive.  She knows stuff.

My first kiss went a little like this:  a quick peck on the lips.  Awkward as all get out.  We've gotten so much better.  :)

My celebrity crush is Alex Skarsgard (Eric, the Viking vampire, True Blood)

'Cause, dang.

My splurge of choice is shampoo. I just cannot use the cheap stuff.  My hair acts a complete fool when I do.  Sometimes it does even when I don't.  ANYway.

My biggest accomplishment is my marriage.  Our situation hasn't been exactly easy but it has been so totally worth it.  We're about as normal as a couple can get, we just live our life a little differently than most.  It's us against the world.  That's how we roll.

My dance jam of choice is Young MC's Bust A Move.  :)

Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Today is Lisa P's birthday and we had a little party for her at the office.  We've got lots of birthdays in the spring and summer.  Two in May, two in June, two in July, one in August.  We are gonna be some eatin' fools!

Today we had this delicious white chocolate bread pudding that Michelle made!  It was amazing!!  She brought a homemade rum sauce to drizzle over the top, too.

Cheryl made this yummy homemade Vidalia onion dip!  It is sooooo good!!  We ate it with crackers and it was half gone by the time I remembered to take a picture!

Norma brought ice cream, two gallons of delicious fruit juice punch and some of her famous caramel cake cupcakes.

Have I ever mentioned how hard it is to lose weight and work with these women who are such incredible cooks??  Let me mention that again.

Lisa got some cute and funny cards, a gift card to Ross from all of us girls and since she loves birds (she has 24 at home!), I found a cute parrot salt and pepper shaker set at Pier 1 that I gave her.

We had a great day!  We always do, though.  It's so much fun to work there and we just have a good time together.  Every day.  Not just on birthdays.

Happy Birthday, Lisa!!  You know I love you even if I didn't make you no buffalo chicken dip.  :)

I'm a techie!

Well, technically, I'm a National Technical Honor Society Inductee.  We had Honors Day at the college this morning and I was one of 37 new inductees into the NTHS.  They base this honor on how well you park in the student parking area.  Which is a feat, I tell ya.  It is so hard to park at that place!!

Naaaah, not really.

The NTHS chooses their inductees by their standard of personal conduct and record of scholastic achievement.  That means you gotta behave and study.

I'm pretty honored and proud.  :)

 Here's my certificate!

Here's the loot they gave us! A NTHS keychain, pin and decal. They also gave us a letter of recommendation to go along with our resumes and an offer for cheap insurance with Geico, based on our new excellent status.

If Geico knew some of the creative ways I park my car at that place, they would take my keys.

I'm glad I went today.  I'm all about experience right now, I want to experience every little thing I can, participate in as many activities that I can.  I don't know what the future will bring and I don't worry about that, I let Jesus worry about that.  I'm having fun and I'm learning stuff and I'm meeting some pretty incredible people.  And for now, that's a'plenty.

The tassel was worth all the hassle!

Yesterday, my niece, Jessica, graduated high school!!  It was a bit of a long, winding, uphill-all-the-way road but she did it and I am so, so proud of her!

We had a cookout graduation party for her yesterday afternoon and had barbecue chicken, 'tater salad, baked beans, chips, cake, brownies and cute, cute, cute little Reese peanut butter cup graduation caps that Ami made.

It was such a beautiful day!!

I honestly do not know where the years have gone.  I mean, I was there, I lived 'em, but they went by sooooo fast!!  It seems like just last week, she was just learning to walk and toddled toward me just as I snapped the picture.  Wasn't that just last week??

I love you, Jess.
More than you will ever know.

Fill in the blank Friday!

If I could get away somewhere for the weekend, I would go to the beach and I would bring my toothbrush, baby sunblock and that book I'm STILL reading.

Something I often rant about is that barking dog next door.  Grrrr.  And woof!

One item I need to have in my fridge at all times is A-1 steak sauce.  I eat it with everything!

My "life-saving" product is Burt's Bees lip balm.  I keep a tube in my pocketbook, one in my makeup bag, one in my nightstand drawer and one in my desk drawer at work. I'm never far from a lip balm fix!

A friend is someone you could go years without seeing and then pick right up where you left off

If I could write my own blank, it would be:  One thing I must have in my dream house is ____________________________.  My answer to that would be a ridiculously huge walk-in pantry.

My favorite kind of art is 60's hippie folk art.  Peace signs, a Woodstock poster, an Andy Warhol print, vintage photography, that kind of thing.

Garden update

I planted my little garden late, three weeks ago today, and this is where we are now!

I've got Big Boy and Celebrity tomatoes, banana peppers and strawberries.

I hope to see a bloom on this one soon!!  :)

More 'maters gettin' strong

Banana peppers gettin' tall

Baby strawberries just chillin'
